ChordPro converter

Paste the song or upload the songbook PDF: you get it as text with chords above the lyrics and, in one click, in ChordPro format.

What ChordPro is

ChordPro is the standard format for songbook apps (OnSong, SongbookPro, Songsheet, ChordPro, MobileSheets…): chords go in square brackets inside the lyrics, for example “[G]Hello my [D]friend”, and the app places them above when it displays the song, on any screen size.

How to convert

  1. Paste the song with chords above the lyrics, or upload the PDF or text file.
  2. If you like, move it up or down with −1 / +1.
  3. Press “Download ChordPro” or “Copy as ChordPro”.

It also works the other way: paste or upload a ChordPro file (.cho, .chopro, .pro) and it becomes chords above the lyrics, ready to print or transpose.

Songbook PDFs

It reads PDFs with selectable text (exported from Word, Google Docs or chord websites) and keeps each chord's position. Scanned PDFs and photos can't be read yet: they need text recognition.

What's kept

Title, section names (Intro, Chorus, Bridge…), chords and lyrics. Tabs become tab blocks.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?

Yes, and no sign-up is needed. Everything runs in your browser: the song isn't uploaded to any server.

Which apps open ChordPro?

OnSong, SongbookPro, Songsheet Pro, MobileSheets, ChordPro, Ultimate Guitar Pro and many more.

A chord ended up on the wrong syllable, why?

It happens with some PDFs that use proportional fonts: check the text on the left before converting and fix the position with spaces.
