What it does
It listens to the song and gives you the chords in order, with the moment each one starts. You also get:
- The key and approximate tempo.
- The chords the song uses, from most to least frequent.
- A chord chart by bars ready to copy or download.
- The best capo position to play it on guitar with easy shapes.
- A play-along mode: the current chord lights up and you can see which one comes next.
Choose letter names (C, D, E) or solfège (Do, Re, Mi), and transpose the chords to another key in one click.
Four ways to bring in the song
- Audio file: MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC.
- Link: paste a YouTube or other link; the song opens in its own tab and TuttiKit picks up what plays.
- Microphone: play the song on a speaker or another phone and hold your device close. It works at rehearsals too.
- Sound from another tab (desktop Chrome and Edge): pick the tab where the song is playing and tick “Share tab audio”. Only the sound is recorded, and only while you keep it on.
How it works
Many times per second, your browser measures which notes are loudest (including the bass) and compares them with every major and minor chord. It then picks the most consistent sequence of chords for the key, avoiding implausible split-second changes. Everything happens on your device: the audio is never uploaded.
Limits worth knowing
This is automatic detection and it doesn't replace your ears. It gets most pop, rock, folk and singer-songwriter songs right, but:
- It only tells major from minor: a G7 shows up as G and an Am7 as Am or C.
- Inversions (for example C with E in the bass) can come out as a different chord.
- Very fast changes, jazz and very dense mixes are harder.
Use it as a starting point and check the chords on your instrument.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes, and you don't need to sign up.
Is my song uploaded anywhere?
No. The analysis runs in your browser and the audio never leaves your device.
Can I paste a YouTube link?
Yes. Paste the link and the song opens on its own website in another tab; TuttiKit picks up what plays (directly in desktop Chrome and Edge; with the microphone in Safari, Firefox and on phones). We don't download anything from other websites.
Does it detect seventh or diminished chords?
For now only major and minor chords, which are the backbone of most songs. Seventh chords show up as their major or minor triad.
What's the maximum length?
It analyses up to 7 minutes of a file. The microphone records up to 3 minutes and another tab up to 5.
